Welcome to The Paddocks, formerly known as Whistler Farm Bed and Breakfast beautiful luxury Barossa Valley accommodation. Located in the heart of the world-renowned wine region of South Australia. Set on 42 acres, the 100 year old homestead is equipped with guest lounge and two beautifully appointed self-contained suites. The ideal accommodation for couples or couples wishing to travel together. Conveniently located just over an hour’s drive from Adelaide airport and only 45 minutes away from the renowned Clare Valley wine region.
The Paddocks is set just off Seppeltsfield Rd and is an ideal base to explore the Barossa Valley and discover all that it has to offer. Such as premium South Australian wines, world class cafe’s and restaurants, Kaiser Stuhl Conservation Park, the Barossa Vintage and Gourmet Festivals, Barossa Valley wine show and of course our weekly Angaston Farmers Market. And Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop is literally just around the corner! All of these attractions are situated within 10 kilometers of the property, making The Paddocks well situated to explore all the best the Barossa has to offer.
If you would like to explore the Barossa by bike, bring your own or have a couple dropped off at the door for you by Louis of Barossa Valley Bike Hire. They can supply you with maps and suggested routes for all our bike paths or take you on a guided tour with stops to re-fuel on great food and wine at selected vineyards. Or if you would prefer to sit back in comfort and be chauffeur driven to try some fabulous wines at our world class wineries, Jonathan from Barossa Taste Sensations will not disappoint with his expert local knowledge and longstanding excellent rapport with wine makers and cellar door staff alike. For a different view of the Barossa, why not try a horse drawn carriage tour by Rob from Barossa Carriages. A very relaxing way to experience the beautiful surrounds and vineyards, with a gentle clip clop and probably a welcome nuzzle from Rob’s faithful dog Woody!
To get the best out of your Barossa experience, we suggest you allow a minimum of 3-4 nights. There is just so much to do!
At the end of a busy day, relax with a cozy night in or head out to any of the fantastic restaurants, just minutes away. Both suites have their own courtyards, outdoor settings, shade umbrella’s and BBQ’s. Relax with a chilled Riesling or Rose and if it’s a little chilly outside, a big Barossa red and your complimentary cheese plate. Each suite has a lovely outlook over the gardens and beyond. The Vineyard Suite features a wood fired heater for those cold winter nights.
On arrival guests are welcomed with a cheese and meat plate and if booking directly, a complimentary bottle of Barossa wine.If booked in advance, the property offers complimentary transport to Rockford Lunch, Hentley Farm dining, and evening restaurant dining in the Valley.
You may have heard of the term ‘Sea Change’ or even ‘Tree Change’, but we took a different route in 2016 and opted for a ‘Vine Change’. Our Vine Change story started back in 2011, when Kerrie (my now wife) organised a five-day break from our busy Melbourne lives. She knew I was a huge fan of Barossa Shiraz, so it made sense that a holiday in one of the world’s great wine regions was the perfect gift.
